Junior Firefighters Brandon Cole, Jordan Marzolf, Ruthie Roberts and Tyler Broomell joined the Avondale Fire Company at the age of 15 with the desire to get involved and help their community. Normally, these students would have to wait until their 18th birthday to complete the class required to obtain their Pennsylvania State Fire 1 Certificate but were able to complete the required training earlier through the Octorara Homeland Security and Protective Services Academy. The Academy is for students that are interested in careers in Fire Fighting, Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical and Emergency Management. These students have spent countless hours studying and completing their practicals to receive their state certification. Each student will continue their education throughout their high school years.

Students interested in attending the Academy can contact lmcnamara@octorara.org and visit the website (see link below).

The officers and members of the Avondale Fire Company congratulate Brandon, Jordan, Ruthie and Tyler on this accomplishment and welcome them to their brotherhood! Keep up the good work and keep training!
