The Avondale Fire Company along with Hockessin Fire Company Ladder 19 were dispatched at 0915 hours for a reported chimney fire in the 400 block of Bucktoe Road. Engine 23-1 and Ladder 19 crews checked for extension and no fire was found. Crews cleared the incident shortly afterwards.
At 1151 hours the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to assist Hockessin Fire Company on an Automatic Fire Alarm in the 700 block of Meetinghouse Road. Engine 23-2 and Tanker 23 made the response. Soon after responding, Hockessin's incident was under control and Avondale units were recalled.
The Avondale Fire Company was then dispatched to assist the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company with a reported building fire. After further investigation the fire was out and the incident was reduced.
The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to the 300 block of Scarlett Road at 2040 hours. Chief (Cole) responded soon after getting reports of a vehicle versus a tree with everyone out. Chief 23 arrived with a car into a tree with a fire in the engine compartment. Rescue 23 arrived at 2048 hours putting the water can in service. Crews had the fire knocked down at 2050 hours and soon after cleared for another accident in our first due local.
While Avondale was operating at the first accident, command was advised of a second accident at Scarlett and Hillendale Roads. Ambulance 23-2 and Chief 23 arrived with one vehicle off the road and all occupants out. Rescue 23 checked hazards on the vehicle and provided lighting for Blittersdorf’sTowing. Crews cleared around 2200 hours. Kennett Fire Police also assisted with traffic control.
