The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to the Edlon Corporation for an automatic fire alarm at 2355 hours. Rescue Lieutenant (B. Franks) arrived to find nothing showing. After further investigation by the engine crew, a faulty detector in the office area was found to be activating the alarm. Crews cleared the incident.

As crews returned to the station from the fire alarm, Lieutenant Rochester noticed a glow in the area of Pine Street. After further investigation, Lieutenant 23 found a large unsupervised controlled burn. The company was alerted to the incident. Lieutenant 23 determined the fire extended into the mushroom house. Engine 23-2 arrived and dropped a 5" line at the end of the driveway for water supply. The engine crew then split off for fire suppression. Crews began interior fire attack while the second crew began ventilation. Ladder 22 was requested for a ladder pipe operation. Tanker 19 also assisted with additional water. The fire was placed under control soon after and units were released from the scene.

Special thanks to Lancaster Tanker 52 for covering the local while we operated on this incident. As always it’s greatly appreciated!
