The Avondale Fire Company donated decommissioned hoses to the Avon Grove School District to be used as “Safety Sleeves.” By sliding a foot long piece of hose over a door arm mechanism, people can be stopped from going into the class rooms. In case of an emergency situation, the piece of hose can quickly be placed on the door arm to keep the intruder out. The Avondale Fire Company hopes this is a step that continues building a partnership between departments around the nation and communities to provide safety tools.
