The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched for an auto accident at the intersection of Pennsylvania Ave and Fourth Street in the Avondale Borough. Ambulance 23-1 responded upon dispatch and received conflicting reports of possible entrapment and a school van being involved. With this information, the Chester County Fire Board upgraded the assignment by adding an additional BLS (Ambulance 22-1) and ALS (Medic 94). Ambulance 23-1 arrived and confirmed the driver was trapped by the vehicle's dashboard. Rescue 23 arrived right after the ambulance and the crew quickly got to work. Paramedic 94-2 requested 2 additional ambulances due to the amount of patients. Ambulance 19 (Hockessin) and Ambulance 21-1 (Union of Oxford) were requested as the two additional BLS units. Rescue 23's crew stabilized the van and made quick work for the entrapped victim. All EMS units transported the victims to the hospital. Fire police from West Grove and Avondale closed down Avondale Borough at both ends of Baltimore Pike. The company assisted Blittersdorf's towing with clean up in the roadway.
