It is with great despair that the officers and members of the Avondale Fire Company mourn the recent loss of Chester County Department of Emergency Services Director Edward J. Atkins. Mr. Atkins passed away after a turn of unexpected events from a series of cerebral vascular accidents(CVA). Atkins was picked by the Chester County Commissioners in 1997 and served as the director faithfully ever since. In Atkins' 16 plus years as our leader, he turned the Chester County Emergency Services and 911 center into an elite service that is of the highest quality. Atkins was always on the forefront fighting for Chester County to be the best. Atkins will be greatly missed and never replaced.
