The Avondale Fire Company was asked by Christiana Fire Company (station 52 ) of Lancaster County for an engine to assist them with their annual Kids Camp. Engine 23-1 (with 5) traveled to assist them with teaching the children about what it takes to be a firefighter. Engine 23-1's crew burnt hay bales and pallets so the children could put them out with a booster line. Also, AFC volunteer (Quinn) brought his Guardian collapse trailer. The trailer simulates a structure collapse situation which contains obstacles and collapsing sounds. The children were taken through the trailer to experience a collapse inside of a house/building.
The engine assisted from 0900 to 1600 hours.

We would like to thank the Christiana Fire Company for allowing us to participate in this exciting event. We would also like to thank all of the parents that allowed their children to take part in this great learning experience and we hope these children join the fire service when they are of age.
