The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched at 0648 hours for an odor investigation inside The Giant Food Store. Assistant 23 (Cole) went responding with reports of an electrical burning odor in the front offices. Assistant 23 arrived at 0652 hours with nothing showing from the exterior of all sides but a strong burning odor in the offices. The Giant Command was established and an Engine and Tower from Station 24 (Kennett Fire Company) were requested to assist with accessing the roof. Engine 23-1's crew made entry into the building and checked the offices with heat guns and Thermal Imaging Cameras while Tower 24 arrived and accessed the roof and checked the heating units. Crews found a burnt up motor in one of the heat pumps causing the odor in the store. The incident was placed under control at 0714 hours. Crews cleared at 0729hours.

A couple hours later the department was dispatched to assist the West Grove Fire Company for a reported house fire in the 100 block of Schoolhouse Road. After an investigation by the West Grove officers, the assignment was reduced to station 22 units.
