On Wednesday evening at 1939 hours, The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched for a RIT assignment along with tankers from West Grove, Kennett, and Longwood Fire Companies to assist the Hockessin Fire Company on a working house fire in the 900 Block of Crossan Road. Seconds after, AFC was re-alerted for the tanker, as well as a tanker from the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company. Rescue 23, Tanker 23 and Engine 23-2 made the response moments later. Rescue 23 and Tanker 23 arrived at 1954 hours. Rescue 23’s crew stood-by as the RIT, while Tanker 23 supplied their tank water to the 4” LDH supply line. Crews from Engine 23-2 reported directly to the fire scene and assisted with hand-line operations. Engine 22-2 was assigned to a nearby pond to pull a draft and establish a secured water source. Once the secured water source was established, Tanker 23 was released. The rescue and engine were released shortly after. Avondale units cleared the incident at 2230 hours.
Thanks to the Goodwill Fire Company of West Chester for covering our district with their tanker (TKR52).
