Severe Storms Strike-Avondale has 3 Calls

On May 15th, Avondale ran 3 calls after severe storms came into the area. .

Avondale was first dispatched for a lighting strike that struck a tree to the rear of the Acme. Chief 23 arrived and found nothing in the area of where the caller stated the tree was. Chief and 23-30 searched around the area for about 10 minutes before clearing, with an un-founded incident.

Avondale's second call was assisting the West Grove Fire Company for a reported house fire in the 600 block of Chesterville Road at 2034 hours. Chief 22 arrived to find nothing showing. Crews found an electrical issue in the building and had PECO come secure the electric. Engine 23-1 and Rescue 23 arrived and stood-by before getting released soon after.

Shortly after companies cleared the Chesterville Road incident, the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for an inside investigation. The caller stated there was a burning odor on the second floor. Chief 22 arrived to find a large residence with nothing showing from sides Alpha and Delta. As Chief 22 investigated further, he found smoke showing from the Charlie side of the house. Chief 22 upgraded the incident. Engine 23-1, Tanker 23, and Rescue 23 responded within a minute of the dispatch. Crews arrived and assisted with throwing ground ladders to the house and then reported to the manpower sector. The fire was contained and quickly extinguished. Avondale units cleared around 2300 hours.
