Two Vehicle Accident with Entrapment

On Friday, June 26th, volunteers of the Avondale Fire Company were dispatched for a reported auto accident in the area of 1280 Baltimore Pike in New Garden Township. Chief 23 was the first to arrive and found a two vehicle accident blocking Baltimore Pike. Chief 23 also confirmed entrapment of one patient. After further investigation, it was determined that additional EMS resources were needed. Four additional ambulances were requested which brought Avondale Fire Company's second ambulance to the scene and an ambulance from Hockessin Fire Company and two medical intensive care units (MICU) from Longwood Fire Company.
Rescue 23 arrived, stabilized the vehicle with the entrapped patient and extricated the patient from the vehicle within six minutes of arriving on the scene.

Fire police closed Baltimore Pike between Newark Road and Bancroft Road.

Chief 23 handled the Avondale Command during the incident.
