Just before 1700 hrs. on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020, Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to assist West Grove Fire Company with a residential fire in the 1000 block of Wickerton Road in Franklin Twp. West Grove's Engine 22-1 was the first engine to arrive, however there was no water supply available due to a lack of water hydrants in the area. The crew from Engine 23-1 deployed a second handline from engine 22-1. Firefighters from Engine 22-1 knocked the fire and crews from Engine 23-1 assisted with overhaul in the attic of the structure. Rescue 23 stood by as the Initial Rapid Intervention Team to assist if firefighter injuries occurred. The fire was soon placed under control. Crews operated at the scene for about two hours.
