At 1822 hours on Friday, October 2nd, Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to the 500 block of Cedar Woods Circle, New Garden Township, for an oven fire. Reports advised that the resident was attempting to extinguish the fire. Chief 23 arrived to the two-story middle of the row town home confirming that there was an active fire in the oven. Engine 23-1 arrived as the First Due Engine and secured a water supply line from a hydrant in front of the building. The engine crew went into service with an 1.75" hand line. The officer from Engine 23-1 advised command that there was minor extension into the wall which resulted in additional units being dispatched to the scene. The crew from Engine 23-1 was able to knock the fire in the wall and contain it to the original apartment without further extension into the adjoining apartments. Crews removed the exposed wall around the oven area before declaring the incident under control 15 minutes later.

Crews from Longwood Fire Company's Ladder 25 and Kennett Fire Company's Engine 24 assisted with cleanup.
