The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched for an engine to assist the Longwood Fire Company in the 500 Block of McFarlan Road for a reported house fire. Kennett Township Police Department arrived and advised it was not a house but instead a large barn that was on fire. Chief 25 arrived moments after and confirmed a large 2 story barn fully involved. Engine 23-1 arrived (4th due engine) and finished Engine 36's (3rd due engine) reverse lay from the end of the driveway to the scene for a secondary water source. The engine crew assisted with setting up handline(s) on side Charlie to assist with fire extinguishment. Crews then assisted with extinguishment and over-haul operations. The fire was placed under control later into the incident and Avondale's crews assisted with repacking handlines and supply lines before clearing.

Traffic 23 also responded to the incident and assisted with traffic control around the scene.

Thanks to Lancaster Tanker 52 for covering our district during this incident.

Special thanks to Ed Scoop from Chester County Working Fires for the pictures.
