Avondale Fire Company's Fire Police were busy early Friday morning as ice brought down trees and limbs on local roadways.

At 3:16 am, Fire Police were dispatched to close a section of Baltimore Pike between Route 41 and Penn Green Road due to a large tree limb that had fallen and blocked the road. Fire Police responded with Squad 23 and Traffic Control Trailer 23 (TCT23) and deployed cones, barricades, flares, and Road Closed signs to close the roadway.

While returning to the firehouse, Fire Police were dispatched to the area of Church Road and Ambrogio Road for a tree down blocking the roadway. Fire Police arrived to find one lane of Church Road blocked by a large amount of ice-covered bamboo near Miner Street. Fire Police deployed cones, signs, and flares on either side of the bamboo to warn drivers of the hazard. One lane remained open to allow drivers to pass the scene.

At 4:22 am, while still at the scene of the Church Road incident, Fire Police were dispatched to the area of Sunny Dell Road and Egypt Run Road for a downed tree blocking Sunny Dell Road. Fire Police responded with Squad 23, TCT23, and Traffic 23 to find a large limb blocking one lane of the roadway. Traffic 23 temporarily closed Sunny Dell Road at Egypt Run Road to allow Fire Police officers to safely deploy cones, signs, and flares on either side of the limb to warn drivers of the hazard. One lane remained open to allow drivers to pass the scene.

Fire Police cleared the last call and returned to the station around 5:00 am.
