On Friday, March 11th, the Avondale Fire Company was dispatched to the intersection of Limestone and Old Limestone Roads in the area of Foster's Mower Shop for a reported automobile fire. Due to an in-house duty crew, the Rescue, Tanker and Traffic unit responded on dispatch with the Chief. Engine 2 followed shortly after. Rescue 23 arrived first on the scene to find an Audi with the engine compartment on fire. Crews from the Rescue stretched an 1.75" hose line and began fire suppression. The fire was placed under control within 3 minutes of the Rescue's arrival. The Tanker supplied the Rescue. Crews assisted Blittersdorf’s Towing with clean-up before clearing. Avondale Fire Police closed Limestone Road at Southwood and Old Limestone Roads.
Hockessin Fire Company's Tanker 19 was also on the scene as they were dispatched for a vehicle fire in the same area but in the state of Delaware. The vehicle fire was confirmed in Pennsylvania.
