The Avondale Fire Company was alerted to assist Hockessin Fire Company on a reported house fire at 0845 hours on Easter morning. Rescue-Engine 19 arrived with smoke showing. Crews found a working kitchen fire. Engine 23-2 arrived as the third due engine, secured a second water supply and provided manpower to the scene before being released.

At 1312 hours, Avondale was alerted to the Hartefeld Neighborhood for a reported fire alarm. Captain 23 arrived first to find nothing showing from all sides of the 2 story farmhouse. After further investigation, crews found burnt food and cleared the assignment.

Avondale members met for an Easter luncheon at the station, when Longwood Fire Company was alerted for a house on fire. Due to the in-house crews having lunch, Engine 23-2 and Tanker 23 self attached and responded quickly. Engine 23-2 arrived as the third due engine but due to no hydrants in the area, they could not secure a second water supply. The Engine crew assisted with fire suppression in the attic of the exposed building before being released by crews from the Goodwill Fire Company of West Chester. Crews took a short break and then assisted in the main fire building with overhaul. Avondale crews assisted for just over 2 hours at this fire.
