On Friday at 1654 hours, Avondale Fire Company was dispatched for a reported fuel spill in the 100 Block of Bancroft Road in New Garden Township. Southern Chester County Regional Police were first on the scene and reported that a vehicle had flipped over and was resting in the creek with an unknown liquid leaking into the water.
Chief 23 (Cole) arrived and confirmed one vehicle overturned in the creek with a fuel spill. Engine 23-1 arrived with a crew of 5 and was tasked with checking the creek at the intersection of Bancroft Road and Baltimore Pike. Crews found no signs of any fluids in that stretch of the creek and then reported up to the scene.
While at the scene, crews were tasked with caution-taping off a damaged guard rail from the vehicle's impact, checking the area of the creek around the crash site for any further fuel spills and helping Blittersdorf’s Towing with debris clean up.
Once the vehicle was removed from the creek and placed onto a rollback the fire crews cleared.
Final units cleared at 1802 hours.
