On Wednesday morning, the Avondale Fire Company was alerted at 0142 hours to the Northbound side of the Route 1 bypass North of Newark Road for a reported auto accident.
Callers were advising 911 of a single vehicle accident that ran off the roadway into a wooded area.

The Squad, Ambulance, and Chief all responded right after dispatch.
Chief and EMS arrived and confirmed the callers information. It was determined the driver self extricated himself from the vehicle.

EMS evaluated the driver while Squad 23 arrived blocking the slow lane of Route 1, handling hazards, and providing lighting to the scene. EMS transported the driver to a local hospital.

Avondale Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

Units stood by assisting the tow company before clearing the incident at 0233 hours.
