On March 1st, 2026 at 1148 hours, the Avondale Fire Company was alerted for a BLS accident in the 500 Block of Newark Road in New Garden Township.

Ambulance, Deputy and Squad 23 responded immediately due to the in-house duty crew. As units were responding to the scene, multiple calls came into Chester County Fire Board reporting that the driver was unconscious and trapped in the vehicle. With the updated reports, New Castle Engine 19 along with Medic 94 were alerted to assist at 1150 hours.

Deputy 23 (B. Cole) arrived first finding a vehicle into a tree in a small creek and confirmed entrapment. Chief 23 (S. Cole) arrived and established the Newark Road Command. Squad 23 arrived and began stabilizing the vehicle with their Rescue 42 struts. Due to the vehicle's position and being extremely unstable, Command requested Blittersdorf’s Towing to the scene to assist in vehicle stabilization. Squad 23, along with mutual aid, began extricating the patient from the driver seat. Units prepared to remove the doors and roof of the vehicle. Engine 22-1 self-attached to the incident, and arrived to provide additional rescue equipment and manpower. Extrication was complete within 20 minutes of the arrival of Squad 23.

A special thank you to our mutual aid partners that assisted with the incident, and Blittersdorf's Towing for their rapid response and on-scene support.

Thanks to KRFD (Engine 24) for covering the area from Avondale.

Final units cleared at 1253 hours.
