Tanker Training with Career Staff

On Thursday, October 9th, a couple members of the firehouse and career staff practiced setting up a water shuttle, dump site and fill site. Members and staff dropped the 3500 gallon port-a-tank and dumped Tanker 23's water into the port-a-tank. Once the port-a-tank was filled, Engine 23-2 began to draft out of the tank to supply a 2 1/2in blitzfire line. Tanker 23 was then driven to a fill site and the process was repeated.

Water supply operations are important in Avondale's district because most of our district has little to no fire hydrants. In a real life operation there will be around 4-8 tankers running in loops to supply water to the fire.

Units: Engine 23-2 and Tanker 23
