The Avondale Fire Company was dispatched at 1835 hours to the 100 block of Garner Drive for a Gas Leak Inside. The caller advised there was an active gas leak inside the kitchen from disconnecting the stove. Chief 23 arrived at 1837 hours to find the resident evacuated, with an active gas leak. PECO Gas was requested. Rescue 23 (M. Rochester) arrived with a crew of five. Their assignment was to split the crew, with one crew to secure the gas at the meter, and the other crew assisting EMS with evacuation of the near by residents. Engine 231 arrived, preparing to reverse lay a LDH, while their crew secured the electric. Once the gas was secured at the meter, crews checked levels in the house and started ventilation for the gas odor. The incident was placed under control at 1856 hours and reduced to Chief, Assistant, and Rescue 23 awaiting PECO's arrival. The incident was turned over to PECO, and final units cleared at 1946 hours.
