At approximately 3PM on Tuesday, February 1st, the Avondale Fire Company and Southern Chester County Medic 94, were dispatched to the Route 1 Northbound off-ramp to Newark Road for a two-vehicle accident. Ambulances 23-1 & 2, Rescue, Deputy 23 and Medic 94 made the response.
Deputy 23 was the first arriving unit and reported one vehicle into a tree with one occupant trapped. EMS personnel provided patient care upon arrival while the Rescue crew stabilized the vehicle. Unfortunately, the patient did not survive. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
Traffic 23 and fire police closed the exit ramp while the Pennsylvania State Police investigated the accident scene. All emergency crews cleared the scene around 6:30pm.
