The Avondale Fire Company was alerted to the intersection of Gap Newport Pike and Penn Green Road for an automobile fire.
Units responded within a minute of dispatch, and received additional information that Southern Chester County Regional Police was on scene with an engine compartment on fire. Squad 23 arrived first confirming the report. Deputy 23 followed behind establishing the Avondale Command. Squad 23 stretched a 200’ 1.75 handline and began extinguishing the fire. Avondale Fire Police assisted with traffic control around the scene of the incident. The fire was quickly knocked down within minutes of arrival of the squad. Fire extension was found in the dashboard of the vehicle. Crews used the Hurst spreaders to remove the passenger side door and extinguished the remaining fire.
