At 1513 hours on January 5th, the Avondale Fire Company, along with surrounding mutual aid companies, were dispatched to the 600 block of Penn Green Road in New Garden Township for a reported kitchen fire.
Chief, Deputy, and Squad 23 responded immediately following dispatch, along with multiple mutual aid units from Southern Chester County and New Castle County, Delaware. While enroute, crews were advised by the Chester County Fireboard that the reported kitchen fire was possibly extending to nearby furnishings.
Deputy 22 arrived first on location with the Southern Chester County Regional Police and established command. Squad 23 arrived as the first-due engine and split-laid approximately 200 feet of 5-inch supply line from Santilli Road to the scene. This was done so the second-arriving engine could secure their supply line to the nearby hydrant on Santilli Road. Upon further investigation by first-arriving units, it was determined that the fire had been extinguished before the fire department's arrival.
Ladder 22 arrived as the first-due special and assisted Avondale units with checking the residence for possible fire extension. Deputy 23 operated as the Operations Section Chief. After confirming that there was no extension within the residence, the incident was scaled back to Avondale units and Ladder 22 from West Grove.
Crews operated until the incident was placed under control and all units were cleared at 1547 hours.
