On September 26th, the Avondale Fire Company Fire Police were dispatched along with Ambulance 23 to the 8800 block of Gap Newport Pike for closing the road after an auto accident. They were advised there was one injured patient. Ambulance 23-2 was first to arrive and stated that they had another patient so they requested a second BLS (Basic Life Support). They also requested the fire department due to diesel fuel on the road. Rescue 23 with 3 responded after dispatch and once on scene confirmed the diesel on the road. The first alarm fire police were requested bringing 23 (Avondale) 22 (West Grove) 24 (Kennett) 36 (Po-Mar-Lin) and 27 (Cochrandville) to close Route 41 at Baltimore Pike and Route 41 at Penn Green Road. Due to so much fuel being on the road, Blittersdorfs Towing was requested for the cleanup trailer. Crews assisted Blittersdorf with laying down peat moss and oil dry. The rescue crew stood by incase something happened to set the diesel on fire until around 1100 hours.
