At 11:49 hours on 12/20/14 the Avondale Fire Company along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 200 block of Maple Lane in Toughkenamon. Chief and Deputy 23 went responding within a minute and were given a report of flames coming from the side of a house. Engine 23-2 made the response with a crew of 5. The chiefs arrived on the scene and reported fire showing from all sides and upgraded it to a working incident. PECO was also requested for down electrical wires from the residence. The engine arrived pulling two 1 3/4" hand lines for an initial exterior attack. Rescue and Tanker 23 arrived On scene, supplementing the initial crew and supplying the engine with water. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked from the exterior, crews made entry for an interior attack. Ladder 22 arrived and crews laddered the building and ventilated the roof. No occupants were home at the time of the incident. The fire was put under control at 12:29 hours. Crews continued working with overhaul until 13:41 hours when all units cleared the scene.
