Balloon Festival Weekend

The Avondale Fire Company was requested to assist The Chester County Balloon Festival on Friday, June 19th through Sunday, June 21st at The New Garden Flying Field. On Friday night, Rescue 23 with a crew of 6 personnel stood-by. On Friday night, the spectators were able to ride in the balloons and watch a Glow in the Dark Balloon War.

Saturday around 1500 hours Traffic 23 and 23-30 went to the flying field to assist with traffic control. Engine 23-1, with 4 (D. Ianni) Rescue 23, with 4 (J. Swift) and Tanker 23 with 2 (B. Cole) went on standby for the firework display. Brush 12 (West Grove,) ATV, Brush and Utility 24 (Kennett), ATV and Tac 36 (Po-Mar-Lin), Squad and Brush 5-2 (Christiana) and Brush 37 (Modena) were all on standby as well for the firework display. Avondale Fire Company would like to thank everyone for helping with the firework display.

On Sunday around 1130 hours, Rescue 23 went up with a crew of 6 to do a rescue demonstration. Assistant 23 had command for the rescue demonstration. Rescue 23 and Assistant 23 arrived using their lights and sirens for the demonstration of a trapped individual in a minivan. The crew on Rescue 23 stabilized the car, took the four doors off, and did a dash roll. Also on Sunday, Engine 38 (Thorndale), Engine 37 and Brush 37 (Modena) joined the Avondale Fire Company to participate in a firetruck parade on the runway.
