On Saturday, December 21, the Avondale Fire Company was alerted at 1412 hours to the 200 block of Old Kennett Road to assist the Kennett Regional Fire Company on a reported residential structure fire. Chief, Engine, and Tanker 23 made the response shortly after dispatch. Chief 24 arrived, confirming fire showing from the residence. Chief 23 arrived just after Deputy 25 (Command), being assigned with the water supply operation. Engine 23 with a crew of 5 arrived as the fourth due engine. Engine 24 (Second Due Engine) was forward laying their 5" supply line from the scene to the intersection of Old Kennett Road and Merrybell Lane for a porta-tank operation. Engine 23 was assigned as the drafting engine from the porta-tank. While Engine 23's operator got set up to draft out of the porta-tank to supply the fire scene with water, Engine 23's crew was placed in-service on arrival, assisting the crew from Engine 24 (Second Due Engine) stretch an additional 300’ hand-line from Tanker 19 (First Due Engine) to the structure. Interior crews were requesting long hooks to assist in opening the walls to find the fire. Engine 23's crew assisted interior crews with opening the walls and ceilings in the bedroom and living room area.

Tanker 23 shuttled multiple loads of water for the incident. AFC Fire Police assisted with traffic control at the fill site on Bayard Road.

Units from Avondale were released from the scene by Command at 1703 hours.
